  • Mr Larkin comes through to the dull light of his shop that has a pleasant aroma of cheese.
Taken from my recollections of life in Abbotsley, late
1960’s early 70’s. I merely passed through, but it was a good time.

  • My grandad’s brother Harry Larkin used to own the little shop here in the 60s and we used to visit him on a Sunday. Phyllis his wife, passed away in the 60s. I thought it was wonderful to go in the shop on my own and weigh myself out some sweets. And the back garden was gorgeous and very long. In the summer I used to walk to the end with him as far as you could go, til you came to the church. My dad Ron inherited the property when Uncle Harry passed away in the early 70s. I wish he had kept it – looks a lovely place to live now!
