A trip to Borton-on-the-Water

  • My Mum, Ada Cross, was no stranger to Bourton-on-the-Water since she and Dad, Wally Cross, visited my wife and I when I was in the R.A.F. stationed not far away in Gloucester and a favourite visit was this village, not just for its superlative country charm and the wonderful river Windrush, but a visit to the miniature village and the bird and animal sanctuary as well. During their many visits to us I actually stood them on the point on the Mohne dam in Germany where 617 Squadron successfully destroyed the dam.
